New Growth
A hand-drawn illustration of Ink depicting one of the gentler spirits said to wander the Elderwilds.
Foxes such as these are rarely seen, for they spend most of their lives sleeping beneath roots and fallen leaves. Moss, mushrooms, berries, and young saplings are said to take root upon their backs, carried across the forest as they wander. Some believe many of the oldest groves began as nothing more than a place where one of these spirits chose to rest.
Some believe many of the oldest groves began as nothing more than a place where one of these spirits chose to rest. Others claim the creature is not merely carrying the forest, but growing it. Wherever it sleeps, life follows.
For this reason, they are often called a sign of renewal, and a reminder that even after fire, flood, or ruin, the woods will always find a way to return.
