No record speaks of the Lantern Moth's beginning.

The oldest drawings within the Hollow Tree depict the tiny wanderer carrying its lantern long before the first halls were carved beneath the roots. Even the Veiled Reliquary holds no answer, only faded sketches and a single note written in an unfamiliar hand:

To some, it arrives upon forgotten roads. To others, beside a lonely campfire or at the edge of despair. It never speaks, never lingers, and never asks to be followed.

Yet those who choose to walk beside its light often discover that the path home was there all along.

The lantern it carries burns without flame. Some believe it is filled with memory. Others say it holds fragments of dreams shed by the Hollow Tree as it sleeps. Whatever light shines within, neither rain nor wind has ever dimmed it.

Many have tried to capture a Lantern Moth.

None have succeeded.

For by dawn, both moth and lantern are gone, leaving behind only the faint scent of cedar smoke and wildflowers.

Whether spirit, dream, or something older still, one truth has endured through every age:
