Gravewing Reliquary

Somewhere beneath the boughs of the Gloamwood, where the trees knot themselves around forgotten shrines and salt gathers at the roots like frost, the Gravewing hangs in eternal vigil.

It is said these small hollow-boned spirits were once messengers between the living world and the elder wilds — creatures drawn to lanternlight, grave moss, and crystal-veined earth. When a Gravewing dies far from its colony, the forest does not bury it. Instead, the woods preserve it within reliquaries of moss, quartz, and silvered glass so its spirit may freely wander in the gloam. 

The hand-mined quartz resting beneath the wings is believed to anchor wandering thoughts and hidden truths, while the salt crystal wards away ill intent from whatever room the reliquary inhabits. At dusk, some claim the lantern softly creaks on its own, as though something within still stirs against the hanging vines.

Whether displayed as a ritual object, woodland altar piece, or gothic curio, the Gravewing Reliquary stands as a relic of quiet death, enduring nature, and the strange beauty hidden within forgotten places.
