Gloamvine Vessels
Lore

"Every vine remembers the hand that first taught it to grow."

Among the marsh tribes of the Gloamwood, these words were spoken long before a child was old enough to understand them.

When the time came, each child was led beyond the lantern paths into the quiet marsh, where the oldest Gloamvine crept between ancient roots and forgotten shrines. There, under the watchful eyes of the village elders, they gathered only what the vine could spare, for it was believed that nothing living should be taken without first ensuring it could continue to flourish.

From those living vines, the child wove their first **Gloamvine Vessel**.

No two were ever alike. Some leaned crookedly. Others were woven too tightly or too loosely. The elders never corrected their hands, for perfection was never the lesson.

Instead, the vessel was entrusted with its first life.

A cutting of fern, moss, herb, or flowering reed was placed within the glass, and from that day forward its care belonged solely to the child. They learned that life demanded patience, that growth could not be hurried, and that even the smallest living thing deserved reverence.

Many believed the Gloamvine itself remembered every hand that had ever tended it. Each generation wove its vessels from the descendants of those that came before, binding the living vines into an unbroken lineage stretching back to the first tribes who settled the blackwater marshes.

As children became healers, hunters, artisans, or shamans, they continued to weave new vessels throughout their lives. They carried medicinal herbs between villages, rooted sacred plants gathered from distant journeys, and preserved keepsakes too precious to cast aside.

Yet almost none ever parted with the first vessel they had woven.

For it was said that while the child taught the vine how to grow...

**...the vine had quietly taught the child the very same lesson.**
