Agathovore
Lore

Agathovore:

"Do not mistake the daemon for the abyss. It is merely the hand reaching out from it."

Long before the veil between spirit and flesh grew thin, there existed hidden rites devoted to the Agathodaemons—guardian spirits believed to dwell at the thresholds of the world. They were neither worshipped as gods nor feared as demons, but honored as watchers of unseen paths: keepers of the household, wisdom, madness, revelation, and fate.

Among these spirits was one whose name was struck from temple walls.

Sought by wandering mystics and philosophers seeking to overcome the limits of mortal understanding, this daemon did not merely guard the gate.

It opened it.

The spirit became known as Agathovore—the Devourer of Blessed Spirits—for it was believed to feed upon the barriers mortals place around their own minds.

Fear...

Shame...

Memory...

Identity...

Not malicious nore benevolent.

Transformative.

Emerging from a blackened gate etched with forbidden invocations, Agathovore is said to linger between thought and spirit. A horned daemon born where curiosity oversteps fear.

It bears the visage of a raccoon; a scavenger of hidden things, clever enough to thrive in darkness and unafraid to place it's hands where others will not. It's antlers signify ascension and wild divinity, crowning it as a ruler of liminal places. Doorways, ruins, dreams, and thresholds between states of being.

Ancient tales warn that Agathovore does not force entry into the soul.

It waits for invitation.

Upon its frame are inscribed four commands:

"Open the Gate. Free the Mind."

Explore the Mind. Free the Soul."

The ritual was never meant to summon a creature. It was meant to summon understanding, but understanding has teeth.

Agathovore

Agathovore is a one-of-a-kind handcrafted wall-mounted relic from the Veiled Reliquary Collection.

Centered around a reclaimed raccoon skull emerging from a dark ceremonial frame, this piece combines natural materials, an aged finish, hand-applied inscriptions, and preserved skeletal elements to evoke the appearance of a forbidden artifact recovered from a forgotten archive. The reaching hands and skeletal frame reaching from the blackened void and threshold indicates that inner knowledge is not merely waiting, but seeks out those brave enough to question. Its weathered frame bearing the marks of countless years spent hidden from the world.

Inspired by ancient Roman daemon lore, occult symbolism, and the pursuit of inner knowledge, Agathovore explores the boundary between revelation and obsession. Designed as both a striking display piece and a work of narrative art, it serves as a relic from the deeper mysteries of the Elderwilds.
