The Watcher Below

Long before the old forests were cut back by iron and fire, offerings were left at the mouths of caves and beneath twisted trees for the entity known only as The Watcher Below. Villagers believed it dwelled beneath the earth itself, listening through roots, stone, and burial grounds.

This relic was fashioned in its likeness — bone stretched into an eternal scream, branches bound like a crude shrine, and a single eye fixed toward the surface world. Some believed the Watcher protected sacred places. Others claimed it marked those destined to vanish into the dark beneath the woods.
