Lore
The Hollow Heart
"The Hollow Hart remembers what the forest buries.”
Fashioned from the remnants of the wild, The Hollow Hart stands as an ancient guardian between the living world and the old forests beyond. Jawbones rise from its brow like a crown, vertebrae mark its ascension, and feathers carry whispers of forgotten spirits. A relic of death transformed into reverence, it embodies the eternal cycle of decay, memory, and rebirth.

The Hollow Hart is spoken of in hushed tones throughout the Elderwilds — not as a beast, but as a presence. An old spirit bound to the forests long before the Hollowwind Mountains bore their name. Hunters claim its antlers once stretched like the limbs of dead trees across the canopy, and that its skull was found standing upright in a clearing where nothing living dared grow.
No one knows whether the Hollow Hart died… or simply shed its flesh.
What remains is the reliquary form now carried through forgotten shrines and moss-choked sanctuaries: bone wrapped in leather, adorned with feathers, charms, and ritual bindings. The relic is said to mark the boundary between life and decay — a guardian spirit that watches over the natural cycle of the Elderwilds. Where it appears, forests reclaim ruins, roots split stone, and silence overtakes the land.
Travelers who encounter it are given no warning.
Only a choice:
Leave the forest behind forever…
or become part of its memory.
